* Artist Introduction Alert * Hi there! This is me in my studio (welcome new followers and art lovers). I thought it time for a little introduction. I am an artist, living and working in NYC. I am also, a mom of 2 teens with a lovely day job. My backstory in a brushstroke: I’ve been a creative since childhood-my mom really nurtured my artistic inclination and eventually, I went to study fine arts in college. I had always thought of myself as a painter and thought I would major in painting, however, I was naturally encouraged to go into the “commercial arts” or graphic design. “…you can always paint-honey.” my parents said. After I graduated, I had the good fortune of starting a fantastic design career in fashion publication and grew from designer to art director over the years. But, guess what? I never picked up a paint brush again—for over 15 years(unless you count painting with my kids). One day, While visiting galleries and seeing some amazing abstract works of art, I had an “aha moment”! I thought to myself, “Wait a minute-I can paint!” That was the summer of 2007 and needless to say, I picked up those paint brushes again and have not stopped. My work has grown in various mediums and explorations over the years and just continues to expand and excite me. Painting is my truth and vibration and, what I have uncovered about my self and soul is expressed and now exposed in the best possible way. My studio is where “I am” – time slows down when I am creating. I am forever grateful for the support of my art community and collectors. Thank you for joining me and witnessing my journey. I would love to hear your story and what your creative medium/outlet is. ???? Emily . . @condenast @hearstmagazine @theartstudiony @bucollegeoffineart
